Your place to learn what others know, MindBites is an exciting social marketplace and publishing platform for video instructional content, based in Central Austin.
We are looking for an exceptionally bright, motivated and entrepreneurial McCombs MBA student for a very hands-on Independent Study project for the spring of 2008. While your exact mission will depend both on your specific interests and our assessment of the best opportunities when you start, the effort will likely include:
• Diving in and helping out with current state of our rapidly growing web business
• Working directly with founder and CEO (HBS MBA 1999, McKinsey, veteran of two tech startups) to identify and prioritize specific, focused opportunities, both in terms of market development ( e.g. the crafting market, the DIY automotive repaiur market, professional training, etc.) and more importantly ACTUALLY ATTACKING THE OPPORTUNITY and making something happen.
• Identify, prepare and close related business development arrangements that align with our market push ( e.g. deal with Scion or O’Reilly auto parts, Craft Magazine, etc.)
• Bunch of other miscellaneous stuff across the business ranging from probably shooting a video here and there, to helping the CEO formulate financial projections and strategies for raising money, to writing for our blog site, to fixing the office printer.
This will be a fun and exciting opportunity and you will learn a lot. As with all entrepreneurial ventures, this will be a very hands-on and active experience and not have you just analyzing and writing presentations. While, again we will tailor the experience to meet your specific skills and desires, this project would appeal to those interested in:
• Entrepreneurship
• Web/technology businesses
• Venture capital
• Marketing (especially digital marketing)
• Business development
Applicants should:
• be exceptionally sharp
• be passionate about MindBites and our mission
• be willing to roll up your sleeves and work with our team
• be reasonably familiar with current activities on the web
• be reasonably tech savvy
• know Kung Fu
Interested candidates should email Jason at mindbites dot com and please attach a resume. Thanks!
